Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Salt Covenant?
When you perform the Salt Covenant, you are combining your individual grains of salt into one unity vial, symbolizing your united
life. Your commitment to one another and to God cannot be broken
unless you can separate your salt from your spouses.

What are the scripture references associated with the Marriage
Salt Covenant?
The Marriage Salt Covenant is based in the history of the Bible not
actual Bible references. This tradition dates back to Old Testament
times and is only vaguely mentioned in the Bible. We use the Biblical
foundations for marriage combined with the historical aspects of the
Jewish culture during the time to give couples a visual reminder of
their commitment to each other and to God.

Here are a few of the scriptures that reference the salt covenant and
its design to be an everlasting covenant.

Numbers 18:18-19 (New International Version)
18 Their meat is to be yours, just as the breast of the wave offering and the right thigh are
yours. 19 Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I
give to you and your sons and daughters as your regular share. It is an everlasting
covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring."

2 Chronicles 13:4-6 (New International Version)
4 Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, "Jeroboam
and all Israel, listen to me! 5 Don't you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given
the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt? 6 Yet
Jeroboam son of Nebat, an official of Solomon son of David, rebelled against his master.
